Death strike veteran got arrested in Germany! Freedom to Mehmet Çömüt!

upotudakUPOTUDAK | 09 – 11 – 2008 | Soon after 19th December 2000 prison massacre in Turkey Mehmet Comut had to leave the country as a death strike veteran from the F Type prisons. Whilst he was on temporary asylum in France he got arrested on 24th October during a visit in Germany.

Mehmet Çömüt is facing the same danger as Önder Dolutaş, whom just recently got arrested in Germany and was isolated for 4 months with the reason being “You are wanted by Turkey”!The political refugees who were protected by the Human Rights Agreements and Geneva Refugees Conventions in the past are now facing great danger and tried to be trapped by laws under so called “Anti-Terror Laws” which endangers their freedom, violates their rights and allows these attacks to take place.

According to the agreements, In the past it was possible for political prisoners to be protected and seek their rights if they travelled to a country other than they resided, trapping them into Anti Terror Laws such as ‘you are wanted by Turkey, we have to get a decision there’ even effects the way lawyers defend the rights of political refugees.

As UPOTUDAK:
-We condemn these attacks which not only isolate bodies but also aim to isolate political identities!
-We condemn the branding of political refugees as ‘terrorists’ by using their political background as an excuse and constantly terrorising them!
-We condemn the consistent Anti Terror Laws which even prohibits thinking and enforces Political Refugees to give up thinking and violate their right to freedom of thought!

We call upon all revolutionary-democrat-militants to be take action side by side against these attack which aim to shackle thoughts, taking Mehmet Comut case as an acting point!

NO TO ANTI TERROR LAWS!
FREEDOM TO MEHMET COMUT!
FREEDOM TO ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS!
