ATIK | 30 – 12 – 2008 | Since its establishment 1949 the NATO has been a vehicle of giving away the subterranean and aboveground resources to the imperialism of the USA and Western Europe, and it will put behind its 60th year with a summit in April 2009. This particular summit will have a great importance for the imperialists as it will take place during a course of time when the effects of the financial crises is mostly felt. This militarist summit will take place in Strasbourg, France, and Kehl, Germany (or alternatively in Baden-Baden) on the 3rd-4th April 2009.
NATO Summit is taking place whilst the weapon manufacturing and selling is increasing globally. This summit will also be the summit of seek resolutions to the Middle East and Asia Chaos, as well as to the increasing anger of the people’s front in Latin America and Africa in direction to benefit the imperialist bourgeoisie, namely a summit to maintain the war machine. Those decrees that face oppositions of the UN are usually resolved in such summits in the name of ‘maintaining international security’. Balkans and Afghanistan are the most concrete examples. Caucasus is being designed as an expansion for the NATO militarism.
These problems do not only occur in the UN, it directly occurs within the NATO constituents. Such conditions impose issues such as ‘working in alliance with non-constituents’; the official practical practice of this was the Darfur issue in 2005. They decided to solve the Darfur issue with an alliance consisting of NATO and Africa Military Service.
NATO is the enemy of nature, because they destroy the nature by manufacturing weapons, missiles, and chemical poisons they use in war and by supporting the capitalist production of such substances.
NATO is the enemy of humanity, because they are the murderers of millions who die in those lands which they are after.
NATO is the enemy people and toil, because they are not for those oppressed people, they are only advocating a handful of world imperialists to empower their oppression and exploitation system.
NATO is the enemy of independence, because it is a vehicle for giving away the valuable resources of all countries they step into to imperialism. It is the centre of terrorising the struggle for national independency and social liberation.
NATO is the enemy of freedom, because it usurps people right to freedom by forcing them out their homelands and migrates elsewhere. NATO is the assurance of the capitals freedom for exploitation and oppression.
Whilst the crimes of NATO can be listed for more than it can fit into pages, the demands of world oppressed people’s can be formulated in just one sentence ‘The War Machine, NATO, should be dissolved immediately!’
Progressive native-migrant organisations and institutions formed a coordination committee in Strasbourg to organise and mobilise a movement and actions across Europe against the NATO. ATIK is also taking part in the ‘Strasbourg Coordination against NATO’ in order to start preparation for the movement against the summit.
Thus, ATIK calls upon all progressive, revolutionary and democratic migrant organisations to take part in this committee. We also call for a mass participation in the actions against the NATO summit between the 1st and 5th of April. Let start building the mass, united and international struggle barricade against the NATO Summit 2009, as we did at the G8 Summit 2006.
