FRANKFURT | 18-06-2014 | Ladies and gentlemen, on 20 June 2014 in Frankfurt am Main begins the second refugee women’s conference. Title of the conference is „Together against isolation! A way of living in freedom and self-determination „. Like last year, we expect women from a variety of isolation camps for refugees from all over Germany and from various refugee and migrant self-organizations. The objectives and the motivation for this year’s conference are formulated in the call:
At the conference, “ we want to discuss how we can organize more and defend. Because no matter where we are, are concentrated our habitats and taken away the livelihoods and rights. Let’s leave due to the wars, misery and poverty of our countries, perhaps to organize a future for our children left behind, we see not only outside force, but also here in Germany. We want to specially organize this conference in Frankfurt, because there our sister Christy Omordion Schwundeck has been shot dead by police in the office. She was not the first woman who was murdered here in Germany. Already N’deye Mareame Sarr was shot in Aschaffenburg 2001 by the police. We do not forget the sisters who were raped in the Bremen police custody and then deported. But the violence we felt not only in our own bodies, but also to our children during deportation, in humiliation in the warehouse or the fact that they have to die in our hands, because they lack the necessary health care, as recently in Lower Saxony, denied will. “
This year’s conference is organized by the CARAVAN refugee women’s movement, the Socialist Women’s Association and other groups.
