TURKEY | 08 – 11 – 2008 | This year YOK is entering its 27th year of foundation and as every year, hundreds of students from all over the country gathered to protest against this fascist institution that was formed right after the fascist military junta in 1980. Its aim is it’ to create a youth that doesn’t think, write, read and asks. It wants a youth that only speaks when asked and that doesn’t fight for its rights. It violates the most principal rights of the students and wants to take back heard achieved rights like the one for education.
For years protests and rallies are being held on November 6th. Also this year students clashed with the police state forces, in many districts people got injured because of the brutal interference by the police into the rally. Especially in Siirt, Amed (Turkey Kurdistan) and Mersin the tension was very high. In many estimations of youth organizations it says that it was a positive action and very dynamic.
