Workers Protest Against the Victimization of workers by the employer of the STACLO Industry

STALCO Company Private (Ltd)making  auto Rickshaw spare parts in Pkaistan, the workers of the factory formed their union ,but clearly shows  the brutal  picture  of what is happening in the country.

A Brief Scenario of workers struggle / challenges in STALCO Company

STALCO is located Ferozpur Road, District Lahore.Pkaistan.300 workers are working from 5-15 years, in which 90% are temporary and getting no facility under the provision of labor laws.

The owner of the STALCO Engineering Company   victimized workers. Illegal  lockout of the 200 workers including 16 union office bearers. All this was done due to formation of the workers trade union. The workers of the factory protested against the management’s illegal activities and start march on 14-10-2010 on the main road towards the parliamentarian house. Workers hold banners inscribed their demands and red flags, chanting slogans, against the

government and illegal action of the management of the factory.

The procession was led by the General Secretary of APTUF Gulzar Ahmed and others representatives of STALCO workers. The representatives of the union warn the management of the factory to accept the workers demands and reinstate the office bearers of the union and finish the illegal lockout of the workers. They said that inflation and unemployment is increasing rapidly in the country. The situation so worse that daily 10 to 11 person committing suicide. The union has written letters regarding the Anti Labor attitude of the management to the concern government officers but they did not pay any heed to workers demands. The management of the factory continue its illegal and uncivilized policies against the workers.

The example is that on 12^th of October   the management about 10-armed persons threw out the luggage of the workers from their quarters, which is very illegal and inhuman. In this condition workers have to pass night in the open environment.

Instead of the above said illegal activities of the management, workers are deprived of social Security scheme, Gratuity, pension etc which is provided under the law.

The protesters demanded the management of the factory as well as the government of the Punjab

• Finish the illegal lockout of the factory.
• Two hundred workers including 16 office bearers must be reinstate on their jobs.
• Workers must given two months salary with all allowances.
• Workers must provide all the facilities such as social security, pension, gratuity and other amenities with immediate affect.

The workers warned the management that if workers demands were no accepted within a week, the ALL PAKISTAN TRADE UNION with the cooperation of other trade unions launch a Industrial action.
