ISTANBUL | 30 – 10 – 2008 | The suppression against the oppositional and revolutionary press has strongly intensified. The ruling classes are violating the right for freedom of speech and the right for the progressive media stream to the toiling masses. The oppositional and revolutionary press that is writing about the actions of the workers and peasants and that raise the demands of them’ is facing new preventions.
The state punishes those that through all the prohibitions continue their statements and work.Only this year about 40 Kurdish papers which report about the national liberation struggle and that unmask the repressive policies of the TR which have been prevented and closed down. The Kurdish patriotic press wants to the voice of the Kurdish people and that understands the pains of its people and that want to write and carry the oppression and resistance to the pages of their paper face all kinds of oppression every day.
There are also administrative measures against the revolutionary-socialist press. Recently papers like Atilim and Yuruyus were closed down for one month. Now, our paper Isci Koylu has been closed for one month, already there was a prohibition to distribute the last four editions of our papers.
Now the court has decided to close our paper For a Democratic Peoples Power Isci Koylu for one month with the assertion “making propaganda of a terror organization” and “praising guilty individuals”.
This sentence was taken under the press act point 25/2. The ruling classes that use the term ‘Freedom of Speech’ in very opportunity have shown ones more what there real understanding of this is. But the socialist, patriotic, revolutionary press will even in this dark picture of violations in our country continue to carry the light of truth to the broad masses.
Our paper has come across much prevention since its founding and still has never deviated from its line. Oppression is not going to stop us to be the voice of millions of oppressed toilers.
-Oppression will not stop us!
-The revolutionary Press cannot be silenced!
