Thousands take the streets against expurgation

resim1ISTANBUL |09-02-2014 |Thousands of people have taken the streets on Saturday February 8th in Istanbul against the expurgation-law resolution of the government. This law gives the unlimited right of censorship to the TIB (Tele communication Of Turkey) that directly operates with the prime ministry. Furthermore this law allows the government to hinder and expurgate the social media, especially since the Gezi rebellion. For this reason thousands of people went onto the streets to protest against this policy, because, people want to defend their rights.

The manifestation started due to the call of the `Our Pages are Common Platform` in where many democratic organizations and institutions take place. They started marching on the Istiklal Street and wanted to go towards Taxim as the police was attacking the demonstration. But the organizations didn’t stop and were resisting against the police brutality. The clashes lasted until the early morning hours. The police was also brutal against those people, which actually didn’t demonstrate but wanted to know what was happening. During the clashes many people got injured and arrested.
