Dear Comrades and friends,
Red salute and Revolutionary May Day greetings from All Pakistan Trade Union Federation/Working Women Organization!
As you know that all over the world workers are celebrating International Labor Day on May 1st to pay homage to Chicago Martyrs who laid down their lives during the historic struggle of workers in Chicago in 1986 for eight hours working day. May Day is a day to commemorate the historic struggle of the workers throughout the world against capitalism, exploitation, and for safe working condition and respect for the dignity of workers, it is also a day of special significance for the labor movement, and a day of worldwide solidarity, a time to remember past struggles and demonstrate our hope for a better future and a day of long history as a day of united actions and struggles of working people for their pressing demands. It is the day of all workers around the world collectively with one voice to oppose the capitalist system and a demand equal share and equal rights. Together we shall restore humanity! It is a day to analyze the struggle of workers and trade unions for emancipation and what they gain and what they loose, think over how to move forward against imperialist and capitalist oppression.
We are celebrating International Labor Day this year when the inflation is rising, the gas and electricity shedding shut down more than 6000 industrial units and 550,000 people lost their jobs, poor masses suffering in high inflation, unemployment, bad law & order situation and rapidly growing unemployment compelling people and poor women to make suicide, war is going on in different provinces of Pakistan. We have great concern about the killing of innocent people by the security forces, National Industrial Relation Commission (NIRC) was abolish and responsibility given to the provincial government to make labour legislation.
All Pakistan Trade Union Federation/Working Women Organization convey its warm greetings of international solidarity to workers, trade unions, lawyers, journalists, professional and human rights organizations all around the world and wish you all success in your struggles to secure basic rights, demands of workers and their unions and for better life, peace and justice for all humankind
To pay tribute to Chicago Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for workers rights and to extend the solidarity with workers movement around the world, All Pakistan Trade Union Federation/Working Women Organization and its hundred thousand members, women and childrens holding rallies in all over Pakistan. A big rally started on May 1st, 2011 from Hamdard Centre, Lytton Road to Assembly Hall at 0900 A.M.
