Commemoration of Suruç in London: “We Have Not Forgotten, We Will Not Let It Be Forgotten!”
LONDON – 20 July 2025
On the 10th anniversary of the Suruç Massacre, a commemorative march was held in front of Manor House Station in London to remember the 33 young socialist revolutionaries who lost their lives. As the names of those killed in the massacre were read aloud one by one, the slogan “Justice for Suruç, Justice for All!” echoed through the streets.
The commemoration was attended by AVEG-Kon, Young Struggle, SKB, ATİK, DGB, Yeni Kadın and YDG, as well as the Kurdish Women’s Movement, Kurdish People’s Assembly, ADHK, and members of DGB. A speech was delivered on behalf of DGB during the action.
Photos of those who died in the massacre were carried, while Turkish state policies enabling ISIS, the culture of impunity, and committed war crimes were frequently protested. In the speeches, it was emphasized that Suruç will not be forgotten, and that those responsible for this massacre will eventually be held accountable before the people.
Throughout the event, the following slogans were frequently chanted:
•“Long Live the Rojava Revolution!”
•“Jin, Jiyan, Azadî – Woman, Life, Freedom!”
•“Long Live Revolutionary Solidarity!”
Additionally, speeches were also delivered on behalf of YS, SKB, and AVEG-KON. These speeches highlighted that Suruç is not merely a commemoration, but also a call to advance the revolutionary struggle.
