RIO DE JANEIRO | 14 – 11 – 2008 | Cebraspo express its complete solidarity to the Turkish refugee Mehmet Comut, that was arrested by the German police on October 24, when was visiting some parents in Freiburg, Germany. Mehmet spent many years in the terrible prisons of Turkey – denounced internationally by the sbhuman conditions tha are submitted the political prisoners and by the constant practice of torture – and now he is in Germany, imprisoned, because of a request of extradition made by the Turkish authorities.
Why the German police maintain Mehmet Comut imprisoned while is waiting for the verdict from the Court of Karlsruhe? Why it does not liberate him to go to France, where he have legal status? Why it does not respect the legal rights guaranteed by the international treaties to the political refugees?Cebraspo repudiates this clear violation of the arrangements approved in the Geneva Convention concerning about the human and refugees rights. As well as we reputiate the pursuits, the continuos arbitrary prisons ant the attacks against the political refugees in European Union that are, in fact, attacks against the human rights and disrespect to the norms that these government write and are committed to fulfill.
We join to the individuals and progressive and democratic organizations in the whole world condemning the anti-democratic and provocative attitude of the German authorities and demanding the immediate liberation of Mehmet Comut.
Stop the terrorisation of political refugees for the extradition!
