Belediye-is: To press and Public

ISTANBUL | 24 – 12 – 2009 | Our representatives and workers who intended to make a public meeting at the Bosporus Bridge were arrested. Since 5 month the workers of the Esenyurt municipality were laid of their jobs for being members of the municipality union. They are since 127 days on strike.

The workers from BIMTAS Company are on strike. About 16 persons participated in the action. The meeting only lasted for about 20 minuets. Also in Taksim more then 1000 workers made a public meeting, they were joined by democratic mass organisations and gave the common message that they are ready for more struggles and strikes to gain their rights.

Ali Celenk, Hasan Gulum and Serdar Ozkul were also taking part in de action at the Bosporus Bridge. They were brought to the Cengelkoy Police station and released together with the other workers at about 18:30 pm.
