Bayık: Turkish government wants war, not a solution

BayikBEHDINAN | 05 -09 -2013 | Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council co-presidents Cemil Bayık and Besê Hozat welcomed a delegation of the Iraqi and Southern Kurdistan Commission, which has been formed to serve the signature cmpaign for freedom for Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, in Media Defense Areas controlled by HPG (People’s Defense Forces) guerrillas.

During the meeting on Thursday, Bayık extended his thanks to the delegation for their efforts and underlined that Öcalan represented the Kurdish nation, putting emphasis on the relation between the freedom of the Kurdish leader and that of the Kurdish people.

Bayık also extended his thanks to the government, people, political parties and non-governmental organizations in southern Kurdistan where -he said- people have achieved to have national status by paying great prices.

Also commenting the subjects on the agenda, Bayık pointed out that the Kurdish people are currently going through a challenging period, referring to the ongoing process in search of a peaceful and democratic solution to the Kurdish question.

Speaking about the recent developments in the Middle East region, KCK Executive remarked that the freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan was a must to ensure stability in the Middle East.

Answering the questions of journalists from Federal Kurdistan Region, Bayık said that the Kurdish National Congress needed to be held as soon as possible, as is demanded by Öcalan, Kurdish people and the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party).

Bayık said the congress needed to end up with the formation a democratic strategy and principles for Kurds, adding that this strategy was a need in order that the Kurdish people prevent themselves from massacres.

Underlining that the history imposed the creation of a national unity on Kurds, Bayık added that nobody would be able to prevent the achievement of this unity.

Commenting on the recent developments in western Kurdistan, KCK Executive said that; “The region of Rojava is facing a besieging today, just like what happened in Mahabad in the past. It is the duty of each part of Kurdistan, of the southern part (Federal Kurdistan Region) in particular, to support Rojava today and to prevent this besieging. People of Rojava have fought and sacrificed their life in both northern and southern Kurdistan so far. Today it is time for the northern and southern Kurdistan to play their part”.

Bayık also criticized the ongoing closure of the Sêmalka border gate between western and southern Kurdistan, pointing out that the embargo didn’t serve the Kurdish people.

Evaluating the current situation in the democratic resolution process, Bayık said that the Turkish state has not only failed to play its part in this process but also intended to deceive people until the elections with a pretended democracy package.

Bayık commented the non-practice of the steps by the Turkish side as Turkish state’s intention to make war instead of coming up with a solution to the problem.

“They want war. We are stopping the guerrillas and will exercise our right to necessary defense in the event of a military operation”, Bayık underlined and added that the groups of guerrillas who have withdrawn from northern to southern Kurdistan would turn back to Turkey should the state intend to intensify the war.
