ITALY | 07 – 07 – 2009 | The state repression in Genoa, the July 2001 is still in our minds. Then the bourgeois democracy dropped its mask and showed its real fascist and dictatorial essence.
We do not forget the batons of the police and mass and beatings first prepared by the centre-“left” government and then executed by the Berlusconi’s government and its members in the command rooms (like Fini the present president of Camera in Italian parliament).
We do not forget the “Mexican butchery” against many young rebels and workers cowardly assaulted by police in the Diaz school and then criminalized with false evidences – Molotov cocktails and other “offensive objects” claimed to have been found inside the building.
We do not forget the Carlo Giuliani, murdered by a servant of the state, one of the many young rebels and proletarians who came in the streets against a system that brings to the masses only exploitation and poverty, while destroys the environment for the sake of higher profits for a handful of exploiters and gives war and grief to the great majority of the world population.
We have entered in another serious crisis of the capitalist system, unavoidable crisis of the obsolete system, whose production social relationship are now “against the history” and do not reflect the real needs of the humanity and the level of development it reached.
The ruling classes know this but it is a mere utopia to think that they kindly step aside and leave the humanity to go on its course.
So the dying tries to survive injecting massive doses of speculations, worsening of the masses conditions and imperialist wars for the resources. All this, particularly in times of crisis worsens the already poor conditions of the masses and necessarily feeds their resistance and rebellion.
We see the protest against the higher price of bread in Maghreb countries, the working class struggles against the closure of factories and cutting down of salaries in US and Europe in more radical ways (i.e. kidnapping of employers in France), the students’ struggles throughout the Europe, the proletarian youth uprising in the suburbs of the imperialist metropolises, particularly in Greece and France. In our cities migrant proletarians became more and more conscious of their condition and protest in the streets. Anti-imperialist resistances of the national liberation movement do not give up but rather grow up in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Northern Ireland, Euskadi, the people’s wars lead by Maoist communist parties go on in India, Peru, Nepal, Philippines, Turkey/Nord Kurdistan, and elsewhere are being prepared to be launched.
The imperialist system is shaken by all this and reacts externally with more aggression and war and internally with more repression. The imperialist countries of the G8 meet themselves permanently to contrast the advance of masses’ rebellion; they try to give a spoil’s part to rising powers to gain their collaboration organizing G14 and G20, and widen the NATO including other countries in the organization of terrorist aggression led by USA.
Eight years later the battle in Genoa, the imperialist countries have again their summit in Italy, having prepared it during months with several “small G8s” throughout the Italian peninsula.
Each of these meetings brought more effort to militarize cities and territories, to attack dissents and prevent protests. We remember the University G8 in Palermo and Torino, where the activists of student’s movement protested in incisive and radical way against those were deciding and denying their future. The choice of L’Aquila as place for the major G8 summit shows the Capitalist arrogance.
The government uses the grief of people hit by the earthquake, on one hand, to show that it is good and cares about the problems of the people of L’Aquila, turning on them the spotlight with the G8, on the other hand, to try to criminalize once again and beforehand dissent and protests in the “capital of pain”.
We know from the reports of the comrades that the things in L’Aquila are quite different from what the regime propaganda claims.
The government turned the particular situation in Abruzzo into an opportunity to increase “security” policies, to further militarize the town, to restrict the individual and collective freedom of movement. At the same time, instead of solving the problems of people crammed into camps or hotels on the coast, they seek how to make comfortable the stay of the delegations of G8, therefore they architecturally embellished the barracks of the Finance Guard (an Italian police corps) in Coppito, the site of the summit.
All this is unacceptable, it makes us indignant and the same anger is spreading among the people in Abruzzo.
All this increases the need to build a major mobilization to challenge the G8 in Aquila. In doing so, we should not fall into the trap, it is necessary to expose and reverse the logic of the government to take advantage of the pain. The battle against the G8 has to be done in L’Aquila and is part of the same war against the rulers of the world, following other major battles in London, Strasbourg, Palermo and Turin, as well as all the battles that the peoples of the world fight against invaders and masters.
We call the students movement, the rebel youth, the anti-fascists, the vanguard workers, the revolutionary anarchist and communist militants and all the genuine democrats, to help to build an antagonist movement against g8 in Aquila, to contribute and actually support the struggle of people and the oppressed classes in the world assaulted by the imperialist powers.
Against the G8 summit
Let’s rally in L’Aquila!
