Solidarity Protest of Women in London with the Gezi Prisoners and Rojava

LONDON | 18 – 08 – 2013 |  The womens comission of the London Gezi Solidarity tent, have organised a protest on Trafalgar Square on Saturday 17th August. The protest aimed to voice the concerns of the Rojava massacre and strengthen the demands for freedom of the Gezi prisoners. The women were wearing white t-shirts with several slogans on them, (EU-USA are financing Turkey, El-Nusra is killing!, Freedom for Political Prisoners!,  Stop the massacre in Rojava!, Freedom for the Gezi Prisoners!, Stop the Fascist attacks in Egypt!, Resist Rojava London is with You!) lying on the ground in a circle on a large banner, chanting slogans. During the protest that took about an hour, pamphlets were handed out explaining to the masss on the streets on why the women were taking to the streets, on the reason of these protests. Afterwards the protest continued as a solidarity action with the Saturday Mothers. It was concluded with applaus and slogans.

After the protests, the women gathered at the Solidarity Tent where a forum was held on  “ the Gezi Resistance and Women”.  The speakers emphasized the participation rate of women and the great attitude during the resistance. The reasons for such a high number of participation were discussed. The discusson continued on how to involve more women from London to the protests.
